Akers Packaging
“People are the Most Important Asset of Our Business”
– William C. Akers, Founder, Akers Packaging Service Group
Our History
Founded in 1963 in Middletown, OH, William C. Akers established a 10-person, 20,000 sq. ft business with just $30,000. Specialized in creating custom shipping solutions, wooden pallets, and folding cardboard cartons, Mr. Akers’ primary focus was on customer service and quick delivery, providing same or next-day delivery with no order minimums, essentially jump-starting the Just-in-Time model, long before the term would become an industry standard.
What differentiates us is our People. People Working Together to Satisfy our Customers by Providing Outstanding Packaging Solutions, On Time, Every Time.

Making YES Possible
Simply put, when a customer presents a critical issue or challenge, we are prepared to say “yes, we can handle that!” As a third-generation, family-owned business, it is literally woven into our DNA. We truly understand how important it is to provide solutions, quickly and with quality, to keep your business moving.
We maintain this commitment to “making yes possible” with a combination of physical locations, the latest technology, and good old teamwork! Our facilities are strategically located throughout the Midwest United States allowing us to optimize delivery of your corrugated packaging & containers as soon as you need it, in hours and days (not weeks).
Our Approach
Customer Service Focus
We take care of our customers like they are part of that family. Our primary focus has always been on service; meaning Akers works to understand our customers’ business needs completely & provide exactly the right solution, at exactly the right time — it is why Service is in our name. We care about your business, and we respect the role we play in maintaining your product excellence.
Consultative Packaging Audit
We know that in order to provide the best customer service, we need to have an intimate understanding of your business. When you begin doing business with us, one of our skilled packaging engineers will personally visit your facility to conduct a packaging audit. They will work closely with you to understand the products being shipped, how you unitize, and the complete chain of custody from your dock to receipt at your customer.
Identifying Efficiencies
A product of the packaging audit is often an increase in efficiency. We are not just about manufacturing and delivering boxes. Based on the information we gather from you, we will often suggest changing the way the boxes are designed to better fit your storage and assembly needs.
Dedicated Customer Specialist
Each Akers customer has their own dedicated Customer Relations Specialist (CRS). Your CRS will work to understand your specific needs and will be your main point of contact for delivering superior service. However, we do know things can happen and your CRS might not always be immediately available due to other projects or perhaps a vacation, that is why, we fully train a back-up CRS on all the details of your specific account, leaving nothing to chance.
Core Values
The bookends of our Core Values are Relationships First and Dedicated to the Customer by no accident. Relationships are the life blood of our business. We believe great companies prioritize fostering healthy relationships both internally & externally and have made it our mission to do so.
To illustrate Ethical, Fair Practices, Mr. Akers encouraged all employees to use the Rotary Four Way Test when making any decision to ensure we truly lived by this value. Honesty, Integrity, Reliability and being Trustworthy are central to our being.
The Rotary Four Way Test asks the following four questions:
“Of the things we think, say or do:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?”
We strive to exemplify our Core Values in all that we do.
